WHAT IS 4-H EFNEP?
4-H Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (4-H EFNEP) is a part of North Carolina Cooperative Extension. 4-H EFNEP fouses on providing food and nutrition education contributing to personal development. The program provides opportunities for youth to develop skills in basic food selection, preparation and food safety.

A second dimension of 4-H EFNEP is leadership.  Delivered through a club environment, 4-H EFNEP seeks to actively involve youth and volunteer leaders in the support of the club structure and participation in community projects.

4-H EFNEP CAN:
Provide instruction for youth in small groups.
• Provide creative program delivery methods to expand youth participation, increase retention of nutrition knowledge, and make learning fun.
• Provide leadership opportunities for youth to become active contributors to the group and to their communities.
• Provide volunteers with opportunities to become more effective leaders as they support the development of their youth.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
• Urban and rural youth.
• Youth who participate in subsidized school feeding programs, whose family is eligible for Food Stamps and WIC.
• Youth under the age of 18.

Cabarrus County 4-H EFNEP is currently partnered with The Boys and Girls Club and Kids: Plus to provide youth with age appropriate education on food and nutrition.
